Getting Your Bearings: The Neighbourhoods

The one-line version: Aldershot is the west end with GO access and green space; Brant Hills and Mountainside are established family territory in the north; Tyandaga wraps around the golf course; and Plains runs along the old highway corridor with some of the city's best value. The Waterfront Is the Whole Point
Spencer Smith Park and the Brant Street Pier are the postcard, and they earn it: the waterfront trail runs for kilometres, Beachway Park has an actual sand beach, and summer brings festival after festival, including Canada's Largest Ribfest every Labour Day weekend. Sunset at the pier is the fastest way to feel like you live here.
Getting Around
Burlington GO, Appleby GO, and Aldershot GO put Toronto about an hour away, and the QEW/403/407 triangle means you can get anywhere in the GTA (traffic permitting, which it rarely does). Downtown is genuinely walkable, and the city's bike network keeps growing.
Up the Hill: Escarpment Country
Twenty minutes north of the lake you're on the Bruce Trail: Mount Nemo's cliff-edge lookouts, Rattlesnake Point, and Crawford Lake's rare meromictic lake and reconstructed longhouses. Fall colours up there are legitimately world class.
